Racecourses
There are 52 racecourses in New Zealand, from Ruakaka at Whangarei in the North to Ascot Park at Invercargill in the South. Varying between country and town settings and offering a wide ranging level of facilities, each racecourse has its own unique atmosphere, ensuring there are venues to suit every type of racegoer. Many racecourses are located in or near some of New Zealand's most popular destinations, making them ideal if you're planning a trip to a particular area. Clubs
There are 65 Racing (RC) or Jockey Clubs (JC) with current licenses in New Zealand, many of which have long and rich histories. Race Clubs are responsible for the staging and management of meetings, either at their home racecourse or in cases where they no longer have one, at a nearby racecourse. Clubs vary in size ranging from small, community and volunteer based organisations which stage racing just once a year to larger more commercial Clubs offering a number of racedays throughout the season as well as non-raceday facilities.
