The track design is widely acknowledged as one of the best in Australasia, a fact demonstrated by the amount of world records broken on it over the years. Home to Wellington Racing Club and staging a host of top races, Trentham remains as popular today as it was one hundred years ago with racegoers putting on their finest and enjoying the thrill of some quality racing.

From Wellington / West Coast: Take the Hutt Highway (State Highway 2) North towards Upper Hutt, turning right off the Highway on to Fergusson Drive at Silverstream. Follow Fergusson Drive to Sutherland Avenue, turning right at this set of lights then follow signs to the racecourse.
From Wairarapa / East Coast: Turn left off State Highway at Moonshine Road. Follow to the end and turn right on to Fergusson Drive. Follow Fergusson Drive to Sutherland Avenue, turning left at this set of lights then follow signs to the racecourse.

Wellington Cup Carnival – 22, 24 & 29 January 2011
Wellington Cup Day at Trentham is a truly unique event in New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing with over 20,000 race goers flocking to Trentham on the final day of the Wellington Cup Carnival. A tremendous day of fun, action and excitement on & off the track, highlights include the Wellington Cup & Group One Thorndon Mile on the track and Fashion in the Fields, Centre of Course parties, boot parties and packages to suit individual needs off the track. Not to be outdone, the opening day of the Carnival sees the running of the $1,000,000 Group One Telegraph Handicap (New Zealand’s premier Sprinting Race) and the popular Music, Wine & Racing Festival. In between the two Premier Days of Racing is Family Day on Wellington Anniversary Monday. Part of the Nationwide Summer Festival of Racing promotion, Family Day is a great days entertainment for the whole family with free entertainment for the kids both on and off the track!

Trentham Track Info:
Trentham is a 2000m left handed track with a 450m straight.
Inside draws have a slight advantage at all starting points unless the track is heavy, then outside draws play a major part.
