CLUB: Whakatane R.C.

The Whakatane Racing Club, based in the Bay of Plenty, the Club hosts two country race meetings a year in January and May at the Te Teko Racecourse.  Nestled beneath the picturesque Mt Putauaki the racecourse features spacious grounds with shade trees and ‘Tasman Hill” to accommodate family groups and corporate Marquees. An uncovered stand provides seating for 200 plus a large Pavilion and Totalisator building which has a capacity for 400 people.  Wide variety of food and beverages available including locally brewed boutique beers.  The wide volcanic ash based track makes it ideal for all weather conditions and race goers can expect country racing and hospitality at its best.

Feature Meeting:

To replace the abandoned meeting at Te Teko on Monday 31 January, a new meeting has been scheduled for Te Teko on Sunday 6 February.

Interislander Summer Festival - Sunday 6 February

A classic summer family picnic racemeeting specializing in family entertainment.  Live bands, free entertainment for the children at Kidszone with magicians, bouncy castles, a range of novelty rides, water features, various competitions.  For the adults on course Punters Club, Fashion in the Field, Boxer’s and Boardshorts Race and lucky draws throughout the day.

Membership $22.50 which includes free entry and parking on both racedays and access to the Presidents Marquee. 

Gate charge for the public at summer meeting $5.00 per adult, under 18 Free.

Fully licensed bar facilities, wide range of food outlets ranging from standard takeaway fare to healthy food options and BBQ’s.
