CLUB: Westland R.C.
The Westland Racing Club was established in 1866 and has raced at the current Hokitika track since 1884. The track is the only right-handed track in the South Island and is 1290 metres in circumference with a 340 metre straight.
The club has now been reduced to one raceday per year and is part of the popular four-day West Coast circuit in January.

The feature race is the Scenicland Stakes, a weight for age race for fillies and mares over 1645 metres for a stake of $20,000.00.

The raceday provides a picnic day out for locals and visitors and barbecue foods are available. Mini marquees are available for hire. Admission to the course is free. Membership of the club is $15.00 annually and new members are welcome.
