Race 1:          TE RAPA RUGBY CALTEX DISTRIBUTOR 1400
COOL RADIANCE (V Ho) was declared a late scratching at 12.44 pm after becoming fractious in the barriers escaping riderless and sustaining an laceration to the chest area.. The connections were advised that COOL RADIANCE must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Rider V Ho was uninjured. As a consequence the race started 2min 54sec late.
TWO UP (M Du Plessis) was slow to begin.
HIGH COMMAND (J McDonald) was placed in restricted room for a short distance over the concluding stages when weakening.

Race 2:      TE RAPA RUGBY SUPER LIQUOR TE RAPA 1400
VANTASTIC (A Peard) was slow to begin.
HER ROYAL HIGHNESS (C Grylls) commenced to lay in shortly after the start crowding OUR ROSINA (N Harris) which lost ground. After traveling 200 metres the bit on FALTAAT GOLD broke placing rider V Ho at a significant disadvantage for the remainder of the event. The bit was inspected and found to be in reasonable condition. Trainer P Brosnan advised that FALTAAT GOLD had pulled up sore following the event and further advised that he would not be persevering with the gelding as a racing proposition.
TACHUS (D Johnson) over-raced for some distance in the run through the back straight.
Shortly after turning for home MISS CARUSO (S Spratt) when attempting a marginal run to the inside of MR INVESTOR (G McKeon) was denied clear passage when MR INVESTOR lay in. Thereafter MISS CARUSO was held up and unable to obtain clear running until passing the 50 metres.
SHI KIN FLY (W Ismail) raced three wide without cover throughout.

Race 3:      TE RAPA RUGBY SEAFOOD BAZAAR 1200
T Harris replaced C Ormsby on EVEREADY TO DANCE due to C Ormsby being delayed with transport difficulties.
GASTON (T Thornton) jumped away awkwardly and settled back.
TE TORO LASS (M Sweeney) raced wide without cover throughout.
ST GERMAINE (M Du Plessis) became awkwardly placed passing the 600 metres and was unable to obtain clear running until near the 200 metres, however when in clear running only ran on fairly. When questioned regarding the performance of ST GERMAINE rider M Du Plessis stated that in his opinion the filly was better suited to a more rain-affected track. Rider Du Plessis also stated that the filly had lugged out throughout the event which had detrimentally effected its performance. TE TORO LASS lay out rounding the final turn and lost ground.
An inquiry was opened and adjourned in relation to GENDARME (A Calder) being presented without declared gear.

Race 4:      IVERQUANTEL JUVENILE
JUNGLE CAT (A Peard) began awkwardly, however recovered quickly.
STRAVINAKI (L Innes) and ON THE LEVEL (M Coleman) were slow to begin.
ABIT STORMY (R Norvall) raced greenly rounding the first turn.
STRAVINAKI was held up for a short distance near the 400 metres.
Passing the 200 metres HIGH VOLTAGE (M Du Plessis) when racing between RAFFLE’S MISS (C Ormsby) and CHARMA (M Sweeney) was tightened for room when both RAFFLE’S MISS and CHARMA shifted ground simultaneously.
B R Jones the rider of O’REILLY’S GOLD was reminded of his obligations with regard to his use of the whip on a horse out of contention.

Race 5:      TE RAPA RUGBY KEITH HAUB 2000
CHICO (G McKeon) and MAGIC WATERS (A Calder) both bounded on jumping and were slow away.
BEATRIX (L Innes) was slow to begin.
Leaving the straight on the first occasion SAVANUR (S Spratt) was obliged to steady when WORKINCLASSMAN (C Parish) shifted in when only marginally clear. C Parish was advised to exercise care when in similar circumstances.
SAVANUR was obliged to race wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
Passing the 1000 metres SEVERA (T Harris) commenced to over-race when awkwardly placed in midfield.
Passing the 800 metres CHICO improved on to the heels of TODAY NOT TOMORROW (D Johnson) and blundered. Affected in this incident was MAGIC WATERS which was severely hampered and lost ground.
Passing the 250 metres CHICO when improving its position shifted out and bumped with SEVERA unbalancing that runner for several strides.
Passing the 100 metres DINO (M Coleman) shifted out and away from THE SULEIMAN (M Walker) which was laying out and as a consequence SAVANUR which was tiring was hampered for several strides.
When questioned regarding the performance of SEVERA, rider T Harris stated that the mare had travelled comfortably in the running, however when tested had failed to respond as anticipated and was disappointing.
On returning to the enclosure rider J McDonald advised Stewards that he had concerns with the actions of WHISPER TO ME. The Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of WHISPER TO ME which revealed the mare to be lame in the right hind leg. WHISPER TO ME also demonstrated a poor post race recovery. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to WHISPER TO ME racing again.

Race 6:          HS DYKE WAIKATO GUINEAS
SPIRIT OF UNICORN (D Johnson) began awkwardly and was slow away. BONE OF CONTENTION (M Walker) blundered on jumping and shortly after was hampered when TULLAMORE (N Harris) shifted in. ZARZUELA (J McDonald) was slow away. Passing the winning post on the first occasion SPIRITY OF UNICORN had to steady momentarily when MACIANO (L Innes) shifted in. MILITARY MOVE (M Du Plessis) raced wide rounding the first turn. MARCIANO raced keenly for short distance passing the 600m.
Near the 400 metres MACIANO (L Innes) when taken into clear running blundered and lost momentum. MACIANO was ridden with vigour for some distance thereafter however was not persevered with over the concluding stages as rider L Innes was concerned with the colt’s actions. Stewards ordered a veterinary examination of MACIANO which revealed no significant abnormalities, however trainer J Sargent undertook to report to Stewards if there was anything amiss with MARCIANO subsequent to todays event.
BONE OF CONTENTION was held up for a short distance near the 300m and over the concluding stages had difficulty obtaining clear running when in restricted room..
Passing the 200 metres CELTIC FANTASY (S Spratt) and MACIANO were placed in restricted room when IMABAYBOY (J Riddell) shifted out simultaneously as JUNGLE JUICE (T Harris) shifted in and away from CORPORAL JONES (M Coleman) which was laying in. After questioning all riders concerned it was determined that the tightening to CELTIC FANTASY and MACIANO was of a general nature and no further action was deemed necessary. SPIRIT OF UNICORN (D Johnson) was held up passing the 400 metres and only obtained clear running inside the final 100 metres.

Race 7:      JAMES’ TE RAPA TAB 2000
PINOT GIRL (M Du Plessis) underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers after blood was observed in the horses mouth. It was deemed that the injury was consistent with the mare having bitten its tongue. PINOT GIRL was declared fit to run.
LADY LUCILLE (M Vance) was hampered on jumping when tightened by runners either side.
PENTOUR (M Walker) began awkwardly and was slow away.
JENA THE GURU (C Grylls) shifted out on jumping dictating LOVEDALE (M Sweeney) out on to GHOST FINDER (D Johnson) which in turn shifted out tightening SO ROYAL (S Spratt) which lost ground. Contributing to this incident was inward movement from SHE’S A TOMBOY which lay in.
PINOT GIRL over-raced in the early stages.
SKAI GLOW (M Wenn) got its head up when being steadied off heels passing the 1600 metres.
SHE’S A TOMBOY raced wide around the first turn and was taken forward to the lead passing the 800 metres.
JENA THE GURU faltered near the 400 metres and was not persevered with over the concluding stages. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a significant injury to the superficial flexor tendon above the left front fetlock. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance is required before JENA THE GURU races again.
Over the concluding stages FANTASTIC FLASH (A Calder) shifted in placing HEREDITY (T Harris) in restricted room which thereafter unable to be ridden to full advantage.


Race 8:          SKYCITY HAMILTON CASINO CUP
MY SCOTSGREY (L Innes) and SIX O’CLOCK NEWS (J McDonald) were slow to begin.
ANTIPODEAN (V Colgan) raced wide rounding the first turn. COPYBOOK (S Spratt) raced wide in the middle stages.
Passing the 400 metres SPECTACULAR ICON (M Du Plessis) which was laying in shifted into the line of running of HURRAH (J Riddell) which had to steady.
MY SCOTSGREY was held up for a short distance rounding the final turn and again near the 200 metres.
Passing the 400m SIX O'CLOCK NEWS (J McDonald) shifted in to obtain clear running and in doing so dictated TIN GOOSE (T Thornton) inwards into the line of running of the tiring DEAD RABBITS (M Wenn)which had to steady. After questioning the riders concerned J McDonald was issued with a warning under Rule 638(1)(d) and advised to exercise care when shifting ground.


Race 9:     TE RAPA RUGBY 1600
DONNA MIA (M Walker) began awkwardly.
TANALISED (M Coleman) and SHAMAROSE (V Ho) came together and bumped near the 150 metres. SHAMAROSE raced three wide without cover throughout.
DONNA MIA layed out over the concluding stages.
BILLY BEASTA (C Ormsby) was placed in restricted room over the concluding stages when SUM UP (V Colgan) layed out simultaneously as NAZABEEL (G McKeon) layed in.
