RACE 1:     NEWMARKET FASHION CAPITAL 2100
O‘REILLY EXPRESS (V Colgan) travelled wide without cover throughout the race.
Near the 100 metres MAGIC WATERS (A Calder) was inconvenienced by SUNDOWN (N Collett) which shifted out under pressure. Rider N Collett was reminded of her obligations to stop riding and straighten her mounts when they shift ground.
INSIGHTFUL (O Bosson) lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of THE GODDAUGHTER M Du Plessis could not offer any tangible explanation for the performance. Trainer J Sargent advised the Stewards he is going to experiment with different gear. A post race veterinary examination of THE GODDAUGHTER did not reveal any apparent abnormalities.

RACE 2:     BARFOOT & THOMPSON MILE
HIGH SEASON (L Innes) was crowded shortly after leaving the barrier and lost ground.

RACE 3:     CATHAY PACIFIC AIRWAYS NATHAN’S MEMORIAL
C Grylls was replaced as the rider on GOLAN STAR by J Collett as he was overweight. C Grylls was fined $100.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion ZABENE (L Innes) which was over-racing shifted in when awkwardly placed on the heels of CROSS ROADS (M Coleman) and crowded NAZABEEL (L Allpress). ZABENE continued to over-race for some distance and was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ZABENE L Innes stated that after racing fiercely in the early and middle stages the horse was unable to finish the race off strongly.

RACE 4:     NEWSTALK ZB 1200
CAGNEY (D Johnson) began awkwardly, losing ground.
REDESSI (M Du Plessis) was inconvenienced leaving the barrier when MR OMEGEN (R Rattley) shifted out.
MR OMEGEN hung out and raced fiercely throughout the race.

RACE 5:     MERCEDES-BENZ 1400
Race 5 ran 1 minute 32 seconds late due to KINGSTON SAMBA proving difficult to load.
KINGSTON SAMBA (O Bosson) shifted out on jumping and hampered FIFA (J McDonald).
SNAGGLEPUSS (M Du Plessis) shifted out on jumping and hampered GLOWNIGHT RACER (J Riddell).
Rounding the home turn KINGSTON SAMBA hung out.
KINGSTON SAMBA was issued with a warning for being difficult to load.

RACE 6:     WESTBURY CLASSIC
KEEPA CRUISIN (O Bosson), IRISH COLLEEN (A Calder) and ATTALLA (Z Purton) were all crowded for room shortly after the start between RUUD VAN SLAATS (L Innes) and MISS CARUSO (M Walker) both of which shifted ground.
VANTASTIC (A Peard) and CASABELLA LANE (J Collett) were slow to begin.
Passing the 1200 metres ATTALLA was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of VICKEZZCHARDONNAY (C Grylls).
A Peard, the rider of VANTASTIC, admitted a charge of careless riding in that near the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of VICKEZZCHARDONNAY which was checked. After considering the evidence the JCA suspended A Peard from the conclusion of racing on 10 March 2010 up to and including racing on 18 March 2010, 5 days.
IRISH COLLEEN raced wide throughout.

RACE 7:     THE GUCCI MILE
NOBLE WARRIOR (C Parish) and FAZZLE (J McDonald) were slow to begin.
BEJEWELLED (L Innes) knuckled over on jumping and then was crowded shortly after by MR GERE (T Thornton) which was taken in by THE LADY (M Sweeney).
FAZZLE and NO FEAR (A Peard) over-raced in the early and middle stages.
A protest was lodged by the third placed rider A Peard (NO FEAR) against the second placed horse EILEEN DUBH (J Riddell) for alleged interference near the 300 metres. After considering evidence the Judicial Committee stated that had that interference not have occurred NO FEAR would have finished second and therefore upheld the protest and changed the placings accordingly. J Riddell was issued with a warning for shifting out near the 300 metres and inconveniencing NO FEAR.

RACE 8:     TELECOM NZ DERBY
BALLYBIT (M Cameron) was hampered on jumping by MARTIAL ART (V Colgan) which shifted in.
KATIE LEE (O Bosson) shifted out on jumping and made contact with CORPORAL JONES (Z Purton) which began awkwardly.
Approaching the winning post on the first occasion CORPORAL JONES over-raced and was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of BALLYBIT.
IMABAYBOY (M Coleman) was obliged to race three wide in the early stages and was allowed to improve forward to sit outside the leader.
Near the 1200 metres when SMOKIN’ GUN (L Allpress) was awkwardly placed on the heels of HANDSOME ZULU (M Du Plessis) which was steadied when the pace slowed, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and hampered MARTIAL ART (V Colgan). A short distance later HANDSOME ZULU shifted in slightly taking SMOKIN’ GUN in on to MARTIAL ART when SMOKIN’ GUN was over-racing resulting in MARTIAL ART being checked and almost dislodging its rider..
MONACO CONSUL (L Innes) commenced to over-race passing the 1200 metres resulting in KATIE LEE being awkwardly placed on its heels and VOLGUS (A Peard) which was following being hampered. In this incident NO EMOTION and BALLYBIT were forced wider.
MONACO CONSUL hung out passing the 600 metres and continued to do so until straightening.
Near the 300 metres JUNGLE JUICE (T Harris) and VOLGUS were hampered when NO EMOTION made contact with ZARZUELA (J McDonald) and as a result shifted in abruptly.
L Innes stated regarding the disappointing performance of MONACO CONSUL that despite his efforts to race in a forward position MONACO CONSUL did not show enough speed to do so, therefore he raced further back than he intended. He said passing the 1000 metres when the speed slowed he was obliged to race three wide but from that point MONACO CONSUL commenced to hang out badly until straightening. A post race veterinary examination of MONACO CONSUL did not reveal any apparent abnormalities.
When questioned regarding the performance of KATIE LEE O Bosson stated that in his opinion the horse was not comfortable in the ground and did not appear to travel well throughout the race. Trainer G Rogerson stated that it was his intention to spell KATIE LEE.

RACE 9:     THE NEW ZEALAND HERALD 2100
DANE RULER (L Allpress) was a late scratching acting on veterinary advice at 5.46pm after being kicked in the Bird Cage.
When leaving the barrier DAADS ORDER (D Johnson) shifted away from SPIRIT OF UNICORN (S Spratt) hampering SKAI GLOW (M Wenn).
When jumping PINOT GIRL (M Du Plessis) shifted in and hampered MR ZATOPEK (S Collett) who had begun awkwardly.
SKAI GLOW had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
DAADS ORDER had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 150 metres.
APPLETON’S LASS (J Collett) had difficulty obtaining clear running until the 100 metres.
DANCING CHIEF (H Tinsley) near the 100 metres was steadied to avoid the heels of SKAI GLOW which shifted in. M Wenn was advised to exercise care.

RACE 10:     STELLA ARTOIS 1400
This race was officially re-scheduled to run 5 minutes late at 6.35pm due to the cancellation of Eagle Farm.
MISS KRISDEL (M Cameron) and CARMINA (M Walker) were slow to begin.
MISSPRO O’REILLY (C Grylls) over-raced in the middle stages.
An Information was lodged for a charge of careless riding against L Innes, the rider of I’M A KING, for shifting in passing the 300 metres resulting in CHARLOTTE’S SISTER (S Spratt) and ENSOLEILLE (J McDonald) being checked. The Judicial Committee after considering the evidence found the charge not proven as there were contributing factors for this incident occurring.
Over the final 150 metres I’M A KING (L Innes) and MISS JUDGED (O Bosson) made contact when both runners shifted ground.
A post race veterinary examination of HAPPINS which was eased down in the straight, revealed atrial fibrillation. Trainer R Priscott was advised that the horse must barrier trial and undergo an ECG prior to being permitted to start in a race again.
LLANCADEN lost an off hind plate during the running.
