RACE 1:
CROMWELL PROMOTIONS MAIDEN 1400m
The start of this event was delayed 1 minute 14 seconds due to a number of horses being difficult to load. TAPINSKY (C Johnson) bounded at the start losing considerable ground. ALL ABOARD (L Parker) and ORLOV (A Mundy) were slow to begin. BOUNTY HUNTER (D Bothamley) raced wide over the early and middle stages. MONEY MAN (C Tetzlaff) raced wide from the 800m. ALL ABOARD raced keenly for a short distance near the 800m. SANITY PREVAILS (K Williams) lay in when struck with the whip rounding the final bend and had to be straightened.

RACE 2:
LINDAUER/PAUL FERRIS MEMORIAL MAIDEN 1200m
The start of this event was delayed 1 minute 5 seconds due to several runners being reluctant to load. GO EMMA (S Muniandy) was slow to begin. PABLO ESCOBAR (M Carston) began awkwardly then raced ungenerously for a short distance shortly after the start. GO EMMA raced wide over the early and middle stages. TAPPY’S LASS (C Johnson) skied its head for a short distance when over-racing near the 700m as the pace eased. MAKATAK (D Walsh) became awkwardly placed passing the 800m when racing to the inside of THRILLER (D Stackhouse) and was taken wider to improve passing the 500m. Passing the 75m ERBALBERT (C Grylls) had to steady momentarily when MAKATAK shifted in.

RACE 3:
ARTHUR BARNETT/ELIZABETH ARDEN RATING 85 1200m
NO WAY (C Grylls) and KIMBERLEY BOY (J Bullard) were slow to begin. ALL SPICE (T Moseley) was held up for some distance rounding the final turn. ALL SPICE and ZENAGEN (C Spittles) brushed near the 200m when ALL SPICE was attempting a run between ZENAGEN and MERCURY ANGEL (C Tetzlaff) which was laying out under pressure. NO WAY (C Grylls) had to steady momentarily near the 150m when KIMBERLEY BOY shifted in.

RACE 4:
RADIO NETWORK MAIDEN 2000m
STAR DAZE (K Williams) dipped shortly after the start and shifted out crowding FIVE RIVERS (J Bates). Approaching the winning post on the first occasion as the pace eased the following horses over-raced for a short distance; THE BELLAROSA (C Spittles), FIVE RIVERS, AWSUM DUDE (T Moseley), PALIO (A Mundy), ALL EMOTIONAL (D Stackhouse) and VOODOO VIXEN (L Robinson) the most significantly affected being AWSUM DUDE which was forced over extra ground when having to shift out across heels. AWSUM DUDE was taken forward to sit outside the leader. THE BELLAROSA over-raced for a short distance passing the 800m. PALIO raced 5 wide from the 700m. FIVE RIVERS hung throughout the event and was not persevered with over the final stages. The connections of FIVE RIVERS were advised that a warning has been placed on the gelding’s racing manners. M Carston the rider of TALK ABOUT TOW was shown the video in respect to the manner in which she used the whip over the concluding stages and was reminded of her obligations on a horse out of contention.

RACE 5:
REMARKABLE WINES RATING 70 2000m
MASONS RUN (C Tetzlaff) and POW WOW JANE (C Johnson) came together and bumped heavily at the start with MASONS RUN losing ground. AT SEA (C Grylls) shifted in at the start bumping with FIRSTPRIZE (L Robinson), AT SEA then shifted out and was the buffeted for several strides between POW WOW JANE and FIRST PRIZE and as a result got back. MUFFIN COUP (D Walsh) and IDUNNO (M Carston) were both slow to begin. AT SEA (C Grylls) raced wide over the early stages before being taken forward to sit outside the leaders entering the back straight. IDUNNO raced keenly over the early and middle stages. MUFFIN COUP raced wide without cover from the 1000m. The favourite IDUNNO became awkwardly placed in mid field passing the 700m and was unable to improve. IDUNNO was further held up rounding the home turn and only obtained clear running near the 200m. THE CLOUD (A Tempelman) had difficulty obtaining clear running in the final straight. When questioned regarding the performance of TAP ‘N’ GOLD rider J Bates stated that he believed the horse had not backed up from its race on Friday.

RACE 6:
SCOTT BASE VINEYARDS RATING 75 1400m
KEEP THE CONFLICT (M Carston) raced wide over the early and middle stages. FELLINI (J Bullard) over-raced for a short distance passing the 900m. KENNY STARFIGHTER (D Walsh) raced four wide without cover from the 800m. CHEAP DATE (S Muniandy) was held up for a short distance in the early stages of the final straight. When questioned regarding the performance of favourite YEAH BARBIE rider D Stackhouse could offer no excuses.

RACE 7:
DUNEDIN CASINO CROMWELL CUP 2000m
TURN THE PAGE (A Mundy) was slow to begin. THE SILENCE SIR (C Grylls) raced wide over the early stages. Passing the winning post on the first occasion TURN THE PAGE raced ungenerously for a short distance. PEYOW PEYOW (D Walsh) raced wide from the 600m and near the 500m was forced over extra ground by the tiring THE SILENCE SIR. COUP PIE (L Parker) raced in restricted room over the final 50m when PEYOW PEYOW lay in. When questioned regarding the performance of TURN THE PAGE rider A Mundy stated that after traveling comfortably in the running the mare had failed to finish the race off as anticipated and was disappointing. When questioned regarding the performance of RELAMPAGO rider D Bothamley could offer no tangible excuses.

RACE 8:
MOUNTAIN SCENE CENTRAL OTAGO SPRINT 1400m
FLIGHT POINT (J Bullard) began awkwardly and got back as a result. FLIGHT POINT raced in restricted room in the final 50m when ARCTIC ACE (C Johnson) lay out under pressure. When spoken to regarding the performance of COUP BLOOMSBURY rider D Walsh stated that after receiving a favourable run the gelding had failed to run on over the concluding stages and was disappointing.

RACE 9:
goodbars.co.nz RATING 75 1400m
SAND TOYZ (D Walsh) and MR CONQUERER (J Bullard) were both slow to begin. ENVEE (C Spittles) jumped inwards at the start crowding STREET LIGHT (S Muniandy). SHEEZAWAKE (K Williams) over-raced in the early stages then raced ungenerously for some distance thereafter when being steadied. LUCY STAR (L Robinson) and PETER RICHARD (C Grylls) both raced wide without cover throughout. Rider D Walsh reported that SAND TOYZ failed to hit out over the early stages due to the prevailing track conditions and in his view the mare was better suited to softer going. Passing the 200m THIRD CHOICE (Z Zulkifli) which was laying in, shifted in hampering STREET LIGHT which lost momentum for a short distance. Rider Z Zulkifli was issued with a warning with respect to shifting ground in the final straight. Rider Zulkifli was further advised that he must ensure he is more conscious of his position in races relative to other runners.

RACE 10:
CROMWELL TRANSPORT/CROMWELL NEW WORLD RATING 65 1400m
LADY TERRIAN’A (A Mundy) was slow to begin. JUST LUIS (L Robinson) began awkwardly and was slow away. Passing the 1100m LAILAH ALI (M Carston) which was over-racing was dictated wider on the track when ANISSINA (H Beeby) which was also over-racing shifted out. LAILAH ALI had to be continually steadied for some distance. ANISSINA raced wide without cover from the 600m. Passing the 300m THE CHOICE (A Tempelman) which was laying out, shifted out inconveniencing SPEEDWAY (C Spittles). THE CHOICE continued to lay out throughout the final straight when being ridden out. Rider A Tempelman was issued with a warning and advised to exercise greater control when riding her mounts out. When questioned regarding the performance of AUNTIE BALLINA rider C Johnson could offer no tangible excuse.

RACE 11:
UPPER CLUTHA TRANSPORT RATING 70 1200m
Due to a misunderstanding J Bates replaced J Bullard on GO FOR GOLD.
This race was delayed two minutes at the request of the TAB.
JET EXPRESS (C Grylls) and KILGOUR (M Carston) were slow to begin with ACE OF DIAMONDS (L Robinson) being slow over the early stages. GO FOR GOLD (J Bates) raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Passing the 400m THE JESTER (D Bothamley) when improving its position lay in and had to be steadied off the heels of MISS EL BEE DEE (D Stackhouse) and a result lost momentum. DIAMOND JEWEL (C Spittles) lay out rounding the final turn dictating MISS EL BEE DEE wider on the track. Rider C Grylls reported that JET EXPRESS was feeling the effects of the prevailing track conditions and never hit out at any stage.
