Philipa Charlotte will attempt to put a stakes drought behind her when the seven-year-old runs at Pukekohe Park on Sunday.
The mare is in terrific form ahead of the Listed Haunui Farm Karaka Classic (1600m) following wins on her home track at Tauherenikau and two successful visits to Ellerslie.

“She got a bit of black type at three and a little bit more would be nice,” part-owner and trainer Russell Caddy said.
Philipa Charlotte won as a two-year-old and again the following season, during which she also finished third in the Listed Wanganui Guineas.
“It was all going well and then she got injured and we couldn’t put our finger on what it was,” Caddy said.
“She would be fine and we’d gallop her and then she’d be walking really short behind. Time just seemed to work it out and all of a sudden she’s back.”
Philipa Charlotte’s recent form is also something of a bonus as last year her future was seen as a broodmare.
“She went to stud, but she missed twice to Bullbars,” Caddy said. “She came back home and looked enormous, much stronger, so we decided to give her another go.”
The daughter of Bachelor Duke, who will again be served this season, is expected to give another strong account of herself on Sunday as long as she gets conditions to suit.
“She needs it really heavy, she gets through it when others don’t,” Caddy said. – NZ Racing Desk.
