The Otaki based operation rose into the spotlight with former top class mare Cinderbella winning the 2001Spring Classic.. However the stable has maintained success with the deeds of Barinka, King of Ashford, Rodin and Slice of Class.
1. Who’s the one person you’d invite for dinner:
Mrs Brown and her boys, would be a very entertaining night.
2. How did you get involved in racing:
Loved horses from the age of 9-10, progressed from there with the support of mum and dad.
3. If you hadn’t been in racing what would you have done:
Forensic Science. Love that sort of stuff.
4. Greatest dislikes:
ACC, The endless travel and Sunday Racing (Means no day off)
5. Event in the world you’d like to attend:
Bathurst Motor Racing (Kelvin told me to say that ) :-)
6. Where in the world would you like to visit:
France / Italy or anywhere where I can just relax and take in the views.
7. Greatest place you’ve visited:
Fiji, had a wonderful time at the wedding of Mr & Mrs Harris.
8. What do you enjoy outside racing:
Gardening (when I get time), shopping (will make time) and socialising with clients, family and friends.
9. Childhood hero:
Joe Yorke, an amazing show jumping rider.
10. Best thing about racing:
The great people you meet on the way down after you have reached the top.
11. Favourite horse(s):
My 3 Group 1 winners, Cinder Bella (2), Rodin and Barinka.
12. Best race you’ve seen:
Has to be Rough Habits Stradbroke win. WOW.
13. Biggest thrill in racing:
There are a couple, Cinder Bella winning the Kelt (after being told she could not win) and Rodins win in the Grp 1 for family and close friends.
14. What changes would you like to see in racing:
More acknowledgement for Trainers and their staff for all the hard work they do to get horses to the races. Bigger stakes to make all that hard work worth it.
And a Govermnent that cares about racing would be a huge plus.
15. Most admired person in racing:
Has to be Lance O'Sullivan, a true champion on and off the track.
16. Best advice you’ve been given:
Listen to all advice and use what you can.
Don't change anything, it will come right.
