THUNDER DOWN UNDER

Leith Innes

Good effort off a slow speed, he sprinted really well the last 200.   He’s a nice horse and hopefully he’ll go on with it.

2nd

SPLENDIDO

Grant Cooksley

He went a very good race - interference didn’t really help him in the straight.  With that run under his belt, he can only improve.

3rd

ZACADA

Matt Cameron

Yeah, top run. He probably should’ve won. Drawn 1 he couldn’t get away from the fence, obviously a bit of buffeting in the straight.  If he had got clear air he would’ve won easy - he’s a horse on the way up.

PRODIGAL SON

Darryl Bradley

He went super, we got a dream run in the trail.  We peeled off on the home turn, he went up to them but was wayward in the straight, which has cost him finishing closer.

BATTLE PLAN

Mark Du Plessis

Hadn’t run for 30 days.  We got taken on but he will improve with the run.

HEAD SPIN

Sam Collett

Very happy with her run.  He jumped away a bit awkward.   We ended up on the back of the favourite in a slowly run race.  She was a victim of circumstance, she still hit the line well and I think she definitely stays the trip.

TESSASTOCK

Craig Grylls

Good run. From the wide draw we ended up midfield one off the fence. It was a stop start race, we got shuffled back. She got home really well.

8th

STREET SMART

Opie Bosson

Disappointing

9th

ALCALDESA

Trudy Thornton

She was very brave, we got the worst run out. I was no better than four wide the trip but she just kept finding the line. Full credit, she’s very capable of winning a nice race.

Kelly Myers

Nice filly, probably a little bit weak.  Six months away.

11th

POETIC AFFAIR

Sam Spratt

Went a really nice race. We finally got a good draw, we didn’t get luck in the straight, she’s got a really good turn of foot but we just didn’t get clear.

12th

CHARLIE CHINE

Lee Magorrian

He went well - probably just 6 months away.

13th

BRIGADIER

Michael Coleman

A bit ordinary, we were battling half way down - probably just not quite good enough.

14th

ARRAIGNMENT

Vinnie Colgan

Just a no today.

Last

CARNABY

Shaun McKay

He went a good race, just a bit green and third start he’s probably still learning but he’ll keep.

With the Karaka Million less than six weeks away, we grabbed a comment from

Mark Du Plessis, the rider of the very impressive KINGSMAN, the winner of the China-New Zealand Friendship 1100 (Maiden 2yo), at Ellerslie today.
